I am 59 years old, I've been married 34 years, and I'm a father of three. My first gun was a Ruger Single Six bought in 1972, which I still have today. Not long after the Ruger, I bought my first Smith and Wesson which was a six inch Model 19. From then on, most of my interest was focused on Smith and Wesson.
I've always enjoyed working with my hands, which naturally lead to making accessories for the sport. Grips became the main focus of my efforts and was just a hobby until 2005. I competed in some local IPSC shoots in the 1970s, and later in IHMSA competitions. I prefer the custom grip styles from the 1930s and 1940s, but also enjoy a nice set of vintage "Fuzzy" Farrants when I find them. My first set for a S&W revolver was an attempt at copying a set of Farrants from a few photos.
I started making grips full-time in 2007, and have been happily doing it since then. I make each set of grips entirely by hand, which allows me to completely control all the aspects of construction. I use no copying or mass-production equipment. Each set is internally routed, shaped, and finished by hand, including the checkering (one of the most intricate aspects of the process). Thank you for taking the time to browse my work, and I hope you like what you see!
